Building together: Sarreya, love.fútbol, All In For Sport and Bonito receive IOC support to explore new ways to fund grassroots sport

We're pleased to announce that Bonito Foundation, alongside three sport-for-good partners, has been awarded funding from the IOC's Olympism365 initiative.

In March, we were selected for the Olympism365 Tech365 Explore program. Now, we're moving forward with support to explore what's possible.

We're collaborating with Sarreya, love.fútbol, and All In For Sport to explore innovative fundraising solutions powered by Web3 technologies. The challenge we're tackling: marginalized grassroots organizations often can't access funding because of barriers—geography, intermediaries, lack of connections.

Over the next months, we'll be testing ideas and prototyping solutions, hoping to find ways to change that.

All In For Sport, a decentralized autonomous organization that's been pioneering new approaches to sports funding, is leading this work. Each partner brings something different:

  • Sarreya Sport brings together women and girls from across Somaliland to play sport
  • love.fútbol creates safe play spaces in underserved communities throughout the Americas
  • All In For Sport pioneers decentralized approaches to funding and organizing sports initiatives
  • Bonito Foundation empowers people and organizations in the Football For Good sector by creating platforms and spaces that support growth

We're spread across three continents, but we share the same belief: grassroots sports organizations deserve better access to support.

What is Tech365?

Tech365 Explore is a think tank within Olympism365 Innovation Hub, is a collaboration between the IOC, Beyond Sport and Women Win, of 25 innovators from around the world, exchanging ideas to benefit people, communities, and the planet. The program resulted in the Tech365 Manifesto—collectively created to outline shared values, principles, and ambitions for using technology responsibly.

Six projects received funding through Tech365 Incubate. Alongside our work, grants went to:

  • Bamako-Technologie in Mali is tackling energy poverty with a clever solution – a bicycle that generates electricity while you pedal, helping families power their homes with the essentials they need.
  • Fundación Gold Sports in Colombia is using basketball as a gateway to mental health support. They're creating podcasts, interactive content, and group sessions that help young people, caregivers, and coaches talk about mental wellness and inclusion in ways that actually work.
  • Positive Impact Events has built something really smart – an AI tool called Eventsustainability that helps sports events figure out how to support the UN's Sustainable Development Goals with practical, actionable suggestions.
  • Sports' Intelligence in Colombia is democratizing access to the kind of data and training tools that were once only available to elite programs, making performance tracking and modern coaching methods accessible to more athletes and teams.
  • Women Emerging (WE) in the UK is building a community through virtual learning experiences, creating a free AI-powered hub where women can share leadership insights and learn from each other's real experiences.

Different approaches, different contexts, same commitment to using sport and technology to make things better.

This marks a significant step forward in our mission to harness innovation for social good. These six projects demonstrate the transformative potential of combining sport with cutting-edge technology to address some of the world's most pressing challenges.

What this grant means for us at Bonito

This funding isn't just about this project—it's recognition of what Bonito stands for. The IOC's support gives us room to keep building in line with our purpose and mission. As our first external funding since registering in November 2024, it confirms we're heading in the right direction.

We're grateful to the IOC, Beyond Sport, and Women Win for backing us.
And to Sarreya, love.fútbol, and All In For Sport—we're excited to be doing this work together!
